The South Korean box office saw “Mickey 17” retain its dominance for a second consecutive weekend, grossing KRW5.6 billion ($3.8 million) and capturing 65.79% of the market share. The sci-fi epic, directed by Bong Joon-ho and starring Robert Pattinson, continues to build on its impressive opening, bringing its cumulative total to $14.3 million with 2.1 million admissions.

According to Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council, the weekend of March 7-9, saw the top 10 films earn a combined $5.8 million, reflecting a significant drop from last weekend’s $9 million.

“Mickey 17,” which follows a ‘reprinted’ worker on a space colony tasked with dangerous jobs, attracted 562,206 admissions over the weekend across 1,895 screens. The film’s ongoing success in Korea has been bolstered by Imax screenings.

In second place, South Korean horror “Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning” added $402,927 to its total, accounting for 6.87% of the market share. The film has now grossed $2.5 million with 384,934 admissions, moving up a place from last weekend’s third.

Newly released “Conclave” debuted in third place with $337,606. The film attracted 51,266 viewers across 630 screens, bringing its cumulative total to $483,964 with 75,092 admissions.

“Plave ‘Dash’ in Cinema,” a film featuring virtual boy band Plave, debuted in fourth place with $22,476 and 32,702 admissions, despite being shown on only 68 screens. (In South Korea, box office rankings are determined by admissions, not revenues.

In fifth, “Captain America: Brave New World” earned $215,635 from 32,333 admissions, making up 3.68% of the weekend market. The Marvel blockbuster has now grossed $11.1 million with 1.63 million admissions since its mid-February release.

“It’s Okay!” held steady in sixth place with $146,019, accounting for 2.49% of the market share. The romantic drama, which follows high school student In-young as she navigates life after her mother’s death, has now earned $616,545 with 100,595 admissions.

In seventh, patriotic documentary “Cheer Up, Korea!” added $79,617 with 12,380 admissions, bringing its cumulative total to $372,875 with 58,462 admissions. “You Are the Apple of My Eye,” a South Korean remake of the 2011 Taiwanese hit, placed eighth with $67,072 and 9,962 admissions. The film’s cumulative total now stands at $976,394 with 158,884 admissions.

In ninth, “Paddington in Peru” brought in $60,085, making up 1.02% of the weekend box office. The film has now grossed $709,859 with 119,057 admissions.

Rounding out the top 10, “Anora” reentered the charts after its multiple Oscar wins with $59,563, bringing its cumulative total to $452,810 with 66,431 admissions.
