Beloved actor Jack Lilley, famed for his role in the classic TV series 'Little House on the Prairie,' has passed away at the ripe age of 91, confirmed by co-star Melissa Gilbert. In an emotional Instagram post on Friday, March 21, the legendary Little House alumni shared a touching homage to her friend and colleague.
Accompanied by a snapshot showing the late star donning his trademark brown cowboy hat while resting on a porch, Gilbert, now 60, offered a poignant look back at their enduring bond and his impressive legacy.
"The little house family has lost one of our own. Jack Lilley passed away. He was 91 years old. He also happened to be one of my favorite people on the planet. He taught me how to ride a horse when I was just a wee little thing.
"He was so patient with me. He never said no when I would bound up to him squealing, 'Can we go ride? Please, please, please?'", penned the actress, capturing the hearts of fans with her heartfelt words.

Peacocktv)She continued, fondly recalling the joy of reuniting with Lilley decades later during the filming of the ABC pilot 'Then Came Jones. ' Remembering how their time on set reignited cherished memories from the past, she lamented the unrealised potential as the series ultimately didn't proceed.
Melissa penned a heartfelt tribute, recalling the auspicious timing of her project's first read through: "It was all very synchronistic. Our first read through was at Paramount Studios, where we had shot Little House the first four years. It was also on Halloween, which is Michael Landon's birthday. That day, I also found out we would be shooting at Big Sky Ranch, where we had shot Little House."
Emotional memories flooded as she ended her post: "Jack always felt like home to me. He lived quite a life. I am so lucky that he was my friend. All my love and prayers go out to his family and especially Clint (Burkey) Lilley. @stuntbagdrag. Oh Jack....sweet prince....may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. Love always, Your Halfpint."
As the stagecoach driver in Little House on the Prairie, Jack was a familiar face, often seen carrying characters to and from towns. His career spanned further than the small screen, with notable acting and stuntman credits in big-screen hits like Sudden Impact (1983), Young Guns (1988), Planet of the Apes (2001), and The Legend of Zorro (2005), among other titles.
