The Long-Awaited 'Final Destination 6' Trailer Is Here!
The 25-year-old horror film franchise "Final Destination" is back with a vengeance this May. The late horror legend Tony Todd returns.
Another long-running horror film franchise is back with a vengeance: “Final Destination.” The original 2000 film starring Devon Sawa and Ali Larter, which originally was an idea for an episode of “The X-Files,” just had its milestone 25th anniversary on March 17th. Now there’s a new trailer for the upcoming sixth entry “Final Destination: Bloodlines.”
Fans of the series are excited to not only get a new sequel in 14 years, but to see the return of horror icon Tony Todd as his creepy character William Bludworth, the coroner who knows a lot about death. Veteran actor Todd, who is most famous for playing supernatural slasher “Candyman” in that other memorable franchise, passed away in November at age 69 after filming his scenes last spring. Todd can be seen or heard in every “Final Destination” film except the fourth entry “The Final Destination” (2009). Rumor has it that in this new film from directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, we may see a flashback into Bludworth’s childhood and get to know his mysterious backstory, which could be a fitting tribute to Todd.

It is unknown if any other actors from the franchise are returning. Never rule out a surprise cameo from a surviving character though in these kinds of films! The trailer shows mostly new faces, like Kaitlyn Santa Juana and Richard Harmon, among others. Harmon’s character’s septum piercing is the focus of a cringe-inducing teaser video that was released in February ahead of the trailer.

Behind the scenes, there are new-to-the-franchise directors Lipovsky and Stein (“Freaks,” “Kim Possible”), writers Guy Busick (“Scream,” “Ready Or Not”) and Lori Evans Taylor (“Bed Rest,” “Cellar Door”) injecting fresh twists, along with big movie producer Jon Watts (“Wolfs,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home”) who conceived the idea of “Bloodlines” and selected the new directors. Taylor is the first female writer of the film franchise.
As shown in the film’s trailer, family members are targeted by relentless death this time because of the matriarch’s past. Previous entries focused on friends or strangers who were brought together, so this is a different spin to entertain fans new and old. Originally when the film was announced, there were different writers and the story would revolve around first responders, according to series producer Craig Perry. That script looks to have been tossed out or put on the back burner, maybe for a future sequel if “Bloodlines” does well. There was also speculation online at one point that this sequel could have been a prequel set in medieval times.
Watch the trailer here for “Final Destination: Bloodlines” if you dare. A few years ago, it was announced that the film would stream on Max, but audiences can instead see it at their local cinema in IMAX and standard format with other screaming and gasping theatergoers on May 16, 2025.
