The Masked Singer fans 'confirm' identity of Pufferfish with 'Gail Platt' clue
Fans of the Masked Singer are convinced they've figured out who is behind the mask after Corrie legend clue
The Masked Singer fans have "confirmed" the identity of Pufferfish after the ITV show shared a clue dedicated to Coronation Street's Gail Platt.
Pufferfish took to the stage once again on Saturday night (1st February) to hopefully sing their way to the following week. After being branded as one of the "strongest" singers in this year's series, fans have been wracking their brains to figure out who it could be.
Before Pufferfish entered the stage, the clues started rolling in and on the wall was a framed photo of Helen Worth as Gail Platt.
As ITV's secretive singing competition has officially crossed the halfway point, the sixth series only has seven contestants left as they battle it out to be crowned the winner.
Speculation of Pufferfish's identity has ramped up with some fans convinced that Samantha Barks is the person behind the mask.
In 2008, Samantha became a finalist in Do Anything - the BBC competition show where the winner would play the lead role of Nancy in the West End revival of Oliver! Although she finished third, Samantha made her West End debut as Éponine in Les Misérables in 2010.
Later, she was also cast as Elsa in the West End production of Frozen that ran from 2021 to September 2024. While the star has taken to her X (formerly known as Twitter) account and wrote: "it's not me sorry" - but is this just a clever ploy?
Fans rushed to X to share why they think Gail Platt proves it is Samantha underneath the mask. @average_ezx theorised: "gail platt is going to be because samantha barks has a plait when she's elsa isn't it".
@LiamLambrini echoed: "they showed Gail Platt aka Helen Worth and when SAMANTHA BARKS was 14 she played Helen in The Final Quest"
@dan_scott412 continued: "French platt? Is that reference to Frozen? As I know Samantha Barks has been mentioned. Obvs a Les Mis reference too!"
The Masked Singer airs on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
