Tributes paid to Jack Lilley as Little House on the Prairie actor dies aged 91

American actor Jack Lilley, known for his role in the classic US television series 'Little House on the Prairie' has died at the age of 91.
His co-star Melissa Gilbert confirmed the sad news in a heartfelt social media post on Friday, March 21.
Article continues belowGilbert, now 60, shared an image of the late star wearing his trademark brown cowboy hat while sitting on a porch, alongside a touching tribute to her friend, reminiscing on their special bond and his legacy.
Writing on Instagram, she said: "The little house family has lost one of our own. Jack Lilley passed away. He was 91 years old. He also happened to be one of my favorite people on the planet. He taught me how to ride a horse when I was just a wee little thing.
"He was so patient with me. He never said no when I would bound up to him squealing, 'Can we go ride? Please, please, please?'"
She recalled her elation when the pair were reunited decades later while filming the ABC pilot 'Then Came Jones'.
Remembering how their time together brought back fond memories of the past, she lamented on what could have been, as the series ended up not going ahead.
Gilbert's tribute also brought up the uncanny timing of her project's first read through, the Mirror reports.
She explained: "It was all very synchronistic. Our first read through was at Paramount Studios, where we had shot Little House the first four years. It was also on Halloween, which is Michael Landon's birthday.
"That day, I also found out we would be shooting at Big Sky Ranch, where we had shot Little House."
Ending her post with more emotional memories, she added: "Jack always felt like home to me. He lived quite a life. I am so lucky that he was my friend. All my love and prayers go out to his family and especially Clint (Burkey) Lilley. @stuntbagdrag. Oh Jack....sweet prince....may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. Love always, Your Halfpint."
Playing the stagecoach driver in Little House on the Prairie, Lilley was a familiar face, often seen taking other characters to and from towns.
His career went further than television, with notable acting and stuntman credits in Hollywood films including Sudden Impact (1983), Young Guns (1988), Planet of the Apes (2001), and The Legend of Zorro (2005), among other titles.
